NeuroQuest Homeschool Enrichment Classes in San Diego
Where children explore their passions and develop more self-confidence.
Homeschool Enrichment Classes for Neurodivergent Students
NeuroQuest is not a school, but additional support for homeschooled students. We offer engaging elective and core classes to enhance the education your child is receiving at home or at your charter school. We do not provide grades or credits for classes, but we do keep attendance, a progress report and a binder with work samples for each student. These work samples can be used to submit as additional evidence of academic progress for your charter school.

How to Homeschool in San Diego, California
In order to legally enroll in our daytime classes offered during typical school hours with NeuroQuest, your child needs to be registered in one of the following homeschool options:
NOTE: if you’re child is 4 or 5 years old, you are NOT required to register them for any type of schooling until 6 years old in California. They may attend NeuroQuest classes with no school enrollment.
Charter School
Charter schools are public schools and do not charge tuition. They are funded by state and federal funds based on enrollment. Students can be enrolled in charters year-round as long as they have space. Charters can be 100% homeschooled base, or 2-4 days on campus. The charter provides all curriculum and resources needed to teach your child. You can supplement your child’s charter education by enrolling in NeuroQuest classes and use charter funds to help pay for these classes. All charters give a specific amount of funds annually for you to apply to elective types of classes.

Public School Affidavit (PSA)
Homeschooling parents can establish a private school based in their home by filing a California homeschool affidavit. The Private School Affidavit (PSA) can be filed with the California Department of Education (CDE) on their website from October 1 to October 15. It must be filed every year that you plan to continue homeschooling as a private school entity.
Although this sounds technical, don’t let the language overwhelm you. You will need to create a name for your homeschool and keep specific items on file about it, but once established, private school homeschools in California have an exceptional amount of freedom. There are no reporting requirements regarding your child’s curriculum or grades, no annual testing, and you have complete autonomy to choose the best homeschool curriculum to meet your child’s specific learning needs.
You do NOT get funds when filing a PSA, but have more freedom/flexibility in how you homeschool. Here is a more info about PSAs.
Private School Satellite Program (PSP)
A PSP is a private school which has filed an affidavit. When you sign up, you become a teacher (of your own children) in that school. Your name and address do not appear on the affidavit, but the PSP is required to keep a listing of each teacher and his/her qualifications. The administrator will remind you to turn in the required records and course of study, and there may be other requirements, which will be at the discretion of the director of this private school..
